BRAD / BEHIND THE CAMERA
Behind the encounters.
Brad brings a lasting curiosity about the ocean to Salty Sea Adventures. His original marine encounters invite us to notice natural behavior and feel a little more connected to the water.
Here, the camera is an invitation to look closer: marine life, coastal landscapes and the quiet details that make an encounter memorable.
Ocean enthusiast. Drone pilot. Always something more to learn.
Curiosity, with care +
Observing a moment is the beginning of a question. Brad encourages checking species and behavior against reliable scientific sources, and welcomes conversations with researchers and conservation educators.
RESEARCH & CONSERVATION
Encounters that contribute.
Coastal observations can help researchers understand the animals that share our shoreline. Brad has shared wildlife footage and sighting reports with marine researchers, including work acknowledged in a published manta ray study.
FLORIDA / MANTA RAY RESEARCH
Florida Manta Project
Part of the Marine Megafauna Foundation
Part of the Marine Megafauna Foundation, the Florida Manta Project studies Florida’s manta rays and the coastal habitats they depend on. Its research documents nursery, feeding and courtship areas, while education and outreach help people understand threats such as fishing-line entanglement and boat strikes.
Brad’s contribution Contributed manta ray footage, sighting reports and observation details to research along Florida’s Atlantic coast.
The Marine Megafauna Foundation is the nonprofit behind the Florida Manta Project. Its wider work combines research, education and conservation to protect threatened marine wildlife and their habitats. Long-term field science and work with local communities help turn knowledge about ocean animals into practical protection.
Salty Sea Adventures shares observations as a citizen-science contributor; it is independent of these research organizations. Support links open the organizations’ external donation pages.
The Atlantic guitarfish (Pseudobatos lentiginosus) is a small rhino ray found in Florida’s nearshore Atlantic waters. Listed as Vulnerable, it depends on coastal habitats that are changing through development and beach renourishment.
Led by Jessica Pate, Marine Megafauna Foundation’s research grew from the Florida Manta Project. The team studies individual identity, movement and habitat use to build the knowledge needed for conservation.
